Llangattock stands on the south bank of the Usk, just across the river from Crickhowell. Above it rise the pale limestone crags of Mynydd Llangatwg, riddled with some of the longest cave systems in Wales. The village has a church, a pub and old lime kilns near the canal wharf, and makes a good base for the escarpment walks behind.
