If you want the classic view of the Cuillin, Elgol is where to get it — a crofting township at the end of the Strathaird road, looking across Loch Scavaig to the jagged ridge. Small boats run from the jetty to Loch Coruisk, the remote glacial loch tucked in beneath the mountains, and on to the Small Isles. The single-track road out from Broadford is slow going, so leave plenty of time.
