From the slipway at Elgol, small boats run across Loch Scavaig to Loch Coruisk, the dark freshwater loch ringed by the Black Cuillin — one of the great short boat trips in Scotland. Most operators land you for an hour’s walk by the loch and often pass a seal colony, with sea eagles about. They run spring to autumn, weather permitting; book ahead in high season.
