Dores sits at the quiet north-east tip of Loch Ness, where a shingle beach gives a cracking view straight down the full length of the loch. It’s a favourite spot for a picnic or a paddle, with the old Dores Inn beside the beach for lunch. The road along the loch’s wild eastern shore starts here, a slower and emptier alternative to the tourist run past Drumnadrochit on the far side.
