Chalton is a small downland village of thatched cottages near Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Its pub, the Red Lion, claims to be the oldest in Hampshire, said to date from the 12th century, when it housed craftsmen building the flint church opposite. Standing outside the two of them is the main pleasure here. Rowlands Castle station is about 5km to the south.
