Buriton sits in a fold of the South Downs, with its pond and church at one end and pubs by the green. It’s a walkers’ start point, where the South Downs Way climbs into Queen Elizabeth Country Park. The historian Edward Gibbon spent much of his youth at the manor house here. Petersfield station is about 3km to the north-east.
