St Michael’s at Up Marden is loved precisely because so little has been done to it: a plain whitewashed interior, a worn brick and tile floor, and no real village around it. It’s reached on foot up a farm track high on the Downs. Usually open. Rowlands Castle station is about 7km to the south-west.
