Burton is one of the prettiest villages on the Wirral — a line of thatched and sandstone cottages on the wooded slope above the Dee marshes. There’s an old church, a National Trust wood on the hill behind, and quiet lanes down to the water. It sits handily for the Wirral Way and the birdwatching at nearby Burton Mere. Neston station is about 4km to the north-west.
