Alkborough stands on a bluff above Trent Falls, where the Trent and the Ouse run together into the Humber. Cut into the turf at the edge of the village is Julian’s Bower, a medieval maze of a single winding path about 13 metres across, thought to have been laid by monks. The wide views over the washland below are the reason to climb up.
