Scapa Flow Museum
Local highlightThe Scapa Flow Museum sits among the old naval buildings at Lyness on Hoy, on the site of the wartime base that served the fleet in Scapa Flow. Recently restored and expanded, it tells the story of Orkney’s part in both world wars, with big guns outside, a walk-in oil tank and plenty of first-hand accounts. It’s reached by ferry across to Hoy, and there’s an admission charge.
