The Meikleour Beech Hedge is a genuine oddity: a wall of beech running for about a third of a mile along the A93 south of Blairgowrie, and, at roughly 30 metres, recognised as the tallest hedge in the world. It was planted in 1745 and has been allowed to grow up ever since, trimmed only once every decade or so. You see it straight from the roadside, so there’s no charge and nothing to book.
