Crowning place of Scottish kings.
Scone was the crowning place of the Kings of Scots for centuries, home of the Stone of Scone and the spot where Robert the Bruce was crowned in 1306. The present Gothic Revival palace sits in broad parkland at Scone just north of Perth, with a pinetum of tall old conifers and the Murray Star maze cut from copper and green beech. House and grounds open seasonally with an admission charge; Perth station is a couple of miles south.
