One of only two Irish-style round towers in Scotland — the other’s at Brechin — stands at Abernethy, a 22.5m sandstone tower from around the 11th century. The village sits at the foot of the Ochils and was once an important Pictish and early church centre. You can walk right up to the tower in the middle of the village. Perth station is about 10km north-west.
