Gearrannan is a restored township of thatched blackhouses right on the coast west of Carloway — the last group of blackhouses lived in anywhere in the Western Isles, finally left in 1974. One house is now a museum set in 1955, others are self-catering cottages, and there’s a café and gift shop in summer. It’s down a single-track off the A858, with a car park and admission.
