Shawbost (Siabost) is a long crofting village on the west side of Lewis, with a restored Norse-style watermill and kiln down by a loch — the last of a type of mill once common across the island. There’s a beach on the Atlantic shore and a small community museum too. It’s strung along the A858 west-side road, an easy pause between Carloway and the northern villages.
