A restored thatched Norse mill and drying kiln sit beside a burn at Shawbost on the west side of Lewis. It’s the old Hebridean way of grinding grain — a small horizontal water mill turned by the stream below — rebuilt to show how it worked. Free to visit on a short walk off the A858, and worth ten minutes if you’re passing.
