Flamborough Head is the great chalk headland that juts out south of Bempton, all white cliffs, sea caves and hidden coves. Two lighthouses stand here — an old chalk beacon tower of 1669 and the working light near the point, first lit in 1806. Seabirds nest along the rim and the Cleveland Way runs the cliff path round it. Wear sturdy shoes and take care near the edges; the coves below are best reached at low tide.
