England’s largest gorge cuts nearly 400 feet down through the Mendip limestone, its road curling beneath cliffs where peregrines nest and feral goats graze. You can drive or walk the bottom for free; the show caves and the clifftop gorge walk are ticketed. The village of Cheddar sits at the lower end. Yatton is the nearest station, roughly 13km north.
