Bucklebury Common
Local highlightApproximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
Oak, birch and bracken heath spread across Bucklebury Common, one of the largest commons in Berkshire. An avenue of old trees runs along the top, planted long ago over the sandy ground. It’s open to walk or ride at any time, with tracks looping through the woods and out onto the heath. The scattered village of Bucklebury lies along its edge. Thatcham station is roughly 4km to the south-west.
