The slate dug out here at Ballachulish roofed buildings across Scotland and far beyond for two centuries before the quarries closed. They’ve since been landscaped, with interpretive paths threading among the flooded workings and spoil heaps. It’s an easy, interesting wander right in the village off the A82, and handy if you’re passing through to or from Glen Coe.
