A stretch of Roman road once stood here — today it survives as earthworks in Northumberland. The Albion Guide lists four stretches of Roman road in the county; this is one of them. It sits within Northumberland National Park National Park.

For more of the same, Fell End Roman temporary camp and Chapel Rigg Roman temporary camp are close by. Haltwhistle Station is 3.6 km away to the south-east.
