A Roman marching camp once stood here — today it survives as earthworks in Northumberland. It is one of 30 Roman marching camps the Albion Guide charts in the county. For more of the same, Poltross Burn Milecastle and Willowford Wall and Bridge are close by. Haltwhistle Station is 6 km away to the east.
