The Cobweb was a bonded warehouse before it was a pub, storing wine and spirits landed at Boscastle’s harbour under the eye of the customs men. It is said to be named for the thick cobwebs once left hanging from the ceiling, on the theory that the spiders kept flies off the casks. A tall, dark stone building by the harbour car park, it only became a bar in 1947.
