Plas Brondanw was Clough Williams-Ellis’s own home, and the garden he began making here in 1908 is his most personal work — a sequence of yew-hedged rooms and clipped enclosures, with vistas framing the peak of Cnicht in the distance. It’s Grade I listed, one of only a handful of gardens in Gwynedd to hold that rank. Open to visitors; Portmeirion, his famous village, is a few miles down the road.
