Ledston Hall was home to Lady Elizabeth Hastings, an 18th-century philanthropist who died here in 1739 and left money that still funds scholarships at The Queen’s College, Oxford. The Grade I house has since been converted into private apartments by the Wheler Foundation, the charity that now owns the estate, and it’s closed to visitors day to day. It opens for a handful of pre-booked days a year, usually through Heritage Open Days, when small groups can see the chapel and view the grounds. Micklefield station is about 2.5km north.
