The cherry-laurel maze here was planted in 1833 by Alfred Fox for his children to get lost in, and it’s still going nearly two centuries on. Around it runs a Quaker family’s valley garden of magnolias and exotics tumbling down to the little hamlet of Durgan on the Helford. National Trust, open most of the year. It sits right beside Trebah, planted by the same family.
