Belton is the great Restoration house near Grantham, built in the 1680s and given to the National Trust with its park and deer herd. On the garden side stand Wyatville’s 1820 orangery — an early cast-iron conservatory — a sunken Italian garden and a formal Dutch garden of parterres and clipped topiary. Grantham station is under 5km away, and Easton Walled Gardens lies a short drive south. It’s open most of the year on a paid ticket, free for National Trust members.
