Arduaine is a coastal woodland garden on a headland between Oban and Lochgilphead, sheltered enough for rhododendrons and rare shrubs to do well. The National Trust for Scotland looks after it now, and it’s open year-round with an admission charge. It sits by Loch Melfort, and pairs nicely with Crarae further along the coast on Loch Fyne.
