Tigh an Truish means “house of the trousers”: the story goes that islanders changed out of banned Highland dress here before crossing to the mainland after 1745. The old inn stands right beside Clachan Bridge, the humpbacked “Bridge over the Atlantic” built by Robert Mylne in the 1790s, linking Clachan Seil to the mainland. A characterful stop, with a pretty spot by the water and a garden.
