Kilmartin Museum
Local highlightKilmartin Glen holds one of Scotland’s richest gatherings of prehistoric monuments — burial cairns, standing stones, stone circles and carved rocks — and this museum in Kilmartin village is where it all starts to make sense. It reopened after a major £7 million redevelopment, laying out the finds and the story of the glen. A natural first stop before you walk out to the cairns themselves; it’s on the A816, north of Lochgilphead.
