Kitchen Coos & Ewes is a working hill farm near Newton Stewart that takes visitors out among its Highland cattle and sheep in a covered trailer, with the farmers explaining how the place actually runs. Tours have to be booked ahead, with no walk-ins, and spring is a lovely time to come when the coos are calving. A genuine farm day out rather than a petting zoo.
