Built around 1160 and still in use, Symington Parish Church is reckoned one of the finest Norman churches in Scotland. Three round-headed windows survive high in the gable, hidden behind later work until a 1919 restoration brought them back to light. It’s said to be the oldest functioning church in Ayrshire. Free to visit, in the village of Symington near Prestwick.
