Mauchline is thick with Burns associations — he farmed nearby at Mossgiel, married Jean Armour here, and lived in what’s now the Burns House Museum. Poosie Nansie’s Inn, which he wrote into The Jolly Beggars, still trades on the same street, and the National Burns Memorial tower stands on the edge of the village. Auchinleck station is about 7km away.
