One of the smallest churches in England, St Olaf’s is a tiny stone chapel among trees at the head of Wast Water. Look for the little etching of Napes Needle — the famous rock pinnacle on Great Gable — set into one of the windows, cut in memory of climbers who died on the fells. The Wasdale Head Inn is a two-minute walk.
