St Nicholas has two towers. The great west tower is the usual medieval one; the slim turret at the east end was lit as a beacon, lining up with the main tower to guide ships through the sandbanks into Blakeney’s old harbour. Most of it dates from the 15th century, when this was a busy seaport. Open access in Blakeney, up the hill from the quay and its seal-trip boats.
