Big enough to earn the nickname “Cathedral of the Marshes”, St Clement rises over the flat Fenland fields west of King’s Lynn. It’s a grand Perpendicular church in imported Barnack stone, with an unusual tower built slightly apart from the body — the soft marsh ground made a central tower impractical, so it stands almost detached. Open access. King’s Lynn station is about 7km east.
