St Botolph’s at Hardham holds one of the earliest and most complete sets of Romanesque wall paintings in England, painted around 1100 by the Lewes Group and covering both nave and chancel. The little church itself is small and plain, which makes the surviving scheme all the more striking. Usually open. Pulborough station is barely a kilometre away to the north-east.
