St Bartholomew’s sits in Whittingham Vale beside the village’s medieval pele tower, its Saxon lower tower still marking the older church under later work. The Newcastle architect John Dobson handled its heavy Victorian restoration. It’s an easy, open church in a green corner of Whittingham, with Alnmouth the nearest station some way off to the east.
