The parish kirk at Durisdeer looks modest from the road, but step inside for the Queensberry Aisle — a domed chamber holding a lavish marble monument to the Dukes of Queensberry, one of the finest of its kind in Scotland. All this in an unexpectedly small hill village below the Lowther Hills. Usually open, and well worth the short detour off the A702.
