St Margaret’s Bay is a shingle cove tucked under the white cliffs between Dover and Deal, at the closest point in Britain to France. Cross-Channel swimmers often start from here. A steep road drops down to a small car park and a couple of cafés. It’s a few miles round the coast from the White Cliffs of Dover walk. Martin Mill station is about 3.5km to the north-west.
