Deal is a seafront town of narrow Georgian streets running back from a long shingle beach, with a pier and a squat Tudor artillery castle built by Henry VIII at the south end. The old conservation quarter near the front is good for a wander. Deal station is right in the town, a couple of minutes from the sea.
