A handful of thatched cottages and a small tidal harbour make up Porlock Weir, tucked where Exmoor’s wooded slopes drop to the sea. Old lime kilns stand by the water, and at low tide the blackened stumps of a submerged prehistoric forest show on the foreshore. Open access, at the end of the shore road below Porlock village.
