A lane at Allerford drops to a twin-arched medieval packhorse bridge over the stream, too narrow for carts and once the way ponies crossed the water. The old school now holds a rural life museum, and the thatched cottages sit on the edge of Exmoor. Selworthy is a short walk over the hill, and the whole area is open to wander.
