A hilltop market town whose centrepiece is the Market House of 1655, raised on three rows of stout stone pillars in the middle of the street. The lanes around it are thick with antique and interiors shops. Highgrove, the royal garden, lies just outside town (tours booked well ahead). Kemble station is about 10km north-east.
