Woodchester Park is a secluded wooded valley below Nympsfield, where the National Trust looks after a lost 18th- and 19th-century landscape park and its chain of five restored lakes. Waymarked trails thread down the valley past the water. At its heart stands Woodchester Mansion, a Victorian Gothic house abandoned half-built when the money ran out and now cared for by a separate trust. The valley walks are free and open all year.
