Tealby climbs the western scarp of the Wolds in ironstone and thatch, with the Viking Way passing through and a 12th-century church on the hill. Its King’s Head is reckoned the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire, a low white cottage of an inn well placed for walkers. It’s one of the prettier Wolds villages and an easy start for a day on the ridge. Market Rasen station is about 5km west.
