Otley is Wharfedale’s working market town, sitting below the wooded Chevin escarpment that gives big views back over the valley. There’s an ancient bridge across the Wharfe, a cobbled market square busy on Fridays and Saturdays, and All Saints’ Church with its Anglo-Saxon cross fragments. Turner painted the skies over the Chevin more than once. Menston is the nearest station, about 3.5km to the south-west.
