Newtonmore is best known for the Highland Folk Museum, an open-air museum spread over a mile of ground where reconstructed and relocated buildings show Highland life from the 1700s onwards — you walk between a working 1930s croft, an old schoolhouse and a township of turf houses. Like nearby Kingussie, it’s serious shinty country. The station is a short walk from the centre.
