The village hotel bar in Newtonmore, at the top of Strathspey, and a welcoming local for walkers and shinty fans alike — this is one of the sport’s heartland villages. It’s a handy base for the Monadhliath hills and the Wildcat Trail around the village, with the station a short walk away. Straightforward Highland hospitality, no airs about it.
