Haroldswick is about as far north as villages get in Britain, strung along a bay on Unst where the Vikings are said to have first landed in Shetland. It has a full-size replica Viking longship and longhouse, the Unst Boat Haven maritime museum (open May to September), and Britain’s most northerly church. Two inter-island ferries via Yell get you here.
